Oro Otel was a Sullustan scout of the male persuasion. He belonged to the Gray Griffins, a scouting unit working for the Rebel Alliance throughout the Galactic Civil War. Following an agreement between the Alliance and the Radell Mining Corporation, Otel and his Griffins were tasked with performing exploratory surveys for the RMC. This led to their discovery of the planet named Alluuvia within the Elrood sector. Unfortunately, their 3-Z light freighter, known as the Whisper, was ambushed by The Scourge, a pirate group active in that area, resulting in the capture of Otel and the other Gray Griffins. The entire scouting team found themselves incarcerated at The Scourge's headquarters on the planet Dega, where they suffered from severe malnutrition due to the conditions of their captivity. Ultimately, they were liberated by a team of Alliance operatives. Following their rescue, Otel and his fellow Griffins were taken to the planet Elrood to recover and receive necessary medical care.
