Orixon Nebula

The Orixon Nebula existed within the Phelleem sector of the Outer Rim Territories'. This nebula came into existence around 5000 BBY from the remnants of the Kashi system. The Kashi system was obliterated by a supernova that occurred twenty millennia prior. By 5000 BBY, the nebula found itself located within the territory known as Hutt Space. By 3643 BBY, the Hutts had prohibited entry into it. In approximately that year, someone managed to retrieve an old artifact from an abandoned starship present in the Orixon Nebula.

Description

The Phelleem sector in the Outer Rim Territories included the Orixon Nebula, which was located in the region called the Slice.

History

The Kashi system was destroyed by an unexpected supernova explosion around 24,500 BBY, and the Orixon Nebula was formed from its remains by 5000 BBY. The nebula was situated within the confines of Hutt Space by 5000 BBY, and this remained true up to at least the time of the Great Sith War in 3996 BBY. At some point, a derelict starship, which contained a relic dating back to the Great Hyperspace War of 5000 BBY, began to drift aimlessly within the Orixon Nebula.

Sometime around 3643 BBY, an individual who was associated with one of the two opposing sides of the ongoing struggle between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire became aware of a distress signal originating from the vessel adrift in the nebula. By that time, the Hutt species had declared the area off-limits. Subsequently, the individual dispatched a companion to negotiate for permission to enter the nebula with a rescue starship. After bargaining with the Hutts to obtain salvage rights, the companion boarded the ancient ship and came across the relic.

Behind the scenes

The reference book The Essential Atlas, penned by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry in 2009, was the first time the Orixon Nebula was mentioned. It was placed in grid square S-7 in that book. Later, the nebula was referred to in a Diplomacy Crew Skill mission within the 2011 BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, though the information concerning the mission's conclusion was eventually taken out of the game.
