The first installment in the series is The Strange Case of Origami Yoda
The children's book series titled Origami Yoda comes from the pen of the American author Tom Angleberger. With Star Wars elements officially licensed by Lucasfilm Ltd., the series follows the experiences of a group of middle school students.
The narrative commences with Dwight Tharp, a school pariah, crafting a finger puppet known as "Origami Yoda." Tommy Lomax initiates an investigation, opening a case file when it appears Dwight is employing the Force through Origami Yoda to provide answers to life and love questions.
A fresh menace arises in the form of "Darth Paper," who, in contrast to Origami Yoda, dispenses sarcastic and impolite responses. These occurrences culminate in Dwight's expulsion from the middle school, leading to his enrollment at Tippet Academy, a private institution.
Following these events, three girls, including Tommy's love interest Sara, fashion new finger puppets named the "Fortune Wookiee" and "Han Foldo," a translator. While these puppets once again aid in resolving people's issues, Tommy begins to suspect that something is amiss with the pair.
The Surprise Attack of Jabba the Puppett marks Dwight's return and centers on the students' creation of an Origami Rebellion to confront the "FunTime Menace," a test-preparation program featuring corny videos and worksheets that have resulted in the elimination of all elective courses. The resolution of this plot occurs in Princess Labelmaker to the Rescue. Emperor Pickletine Rides the Bus chronicles a school excursion to Washington D.C., which they advocated for in Jabba the Puppett and its sequel, Princess Labelmaker to the Rescue.
Art2-D2's Guide to Folding and Doodling serves as a collaborative activity book in which Kellen Campbell and Dwight Tharp, with assistance from Art2-D2, create a guide for Star Wars doodling (Kellen), folding (Dwight), and other activities contributed by various students.
