Noro Zak was a male Jedi Knight of the Baxthrax species. He served the Jedi Order as the Galactic Republic approached its end. This Jedi, named Zak, possessed the ability to fly and was renowned for his skills in tracking.
As an infant, Noro Zak was discovered to have abilities with the Force, leading to his induction into the Jedi Order. He began his training at the Jedi Temple's academy. After graduating, he was chosen by a master to be their Padawan, and together they journeyed through the galaxy completing missions assigned by the Jedi High Council. Upon successfully completing his Trials of Knighthood, Zak was elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight and started undertaking missions independently. Unusually for a Jedi, Zak carried a blaster on his belt. This complemented his unique attire, which consisted of a shirt and a simple vest that did not impede his large wings.
During his time serving the Order, Councilor Adi Gallia disappeared while on an assignment to Esseles. Under the direction of Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Zak joined Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi and fellow Knight Vel Ardox in the effort to locate the missing Councilor. While investigating Trinkatta Starships, the Jedi team was attacked by security droids guarding the location. During the fight, Master Jinn went off on his own to find Gallia, while Zak assisted in defeating the droids. While the battle raged, Jinn located Gallia (beyond the factory and its adjoining spaceport, in an upper level of the Observation Tower) and deactivated the droid control center, which disabled the droids attacking the Jedi. Jinn then picked up his fellow Jedi in a T-16 skyhopper and instructed Ardox and Zak to transport Gallia to the Jedi medical academy on Rhinnal.
Ardox and Zak left the Master/Padawan team on Esseles and traveled to Rhinnal with Gallia, where they were greeted by the healers. During their time at the medical academy, a storm disrupted communications, leading the Jedi on Esseles to believe Rhinnal was under attack. Jinn and Kenobi rushed to Rhinnal to help, only to find that everyone was safe and Gallia was recovering well. While on the planet, Jinn informed Ardox and Zak that a group of Bartokk assassins had stolen several hyperdrive-equipped Vulture-class droid starfighters, which had been modified by Trinkatta, with the intention of attacking the Academy on Corulag.
Once Gallia had fully recovered, the group decided to meet Grand Master Yoda and Master of the Order Mace Windu on Corulag. Their mission was to rescue Teela Panjarra, a Force-sensitive infant, from Frexton, the Chief Scientist of the Academy's Science Services. Like the scientist Jenna Zan Arbor, who had held Jinn a decade earlier, Frexton hoped to use the child to unlock the secrets of the Force. Their initial rescue attempt was thwarted by the Bartokk assassins, but Grand Master Yoda located Panjarra and defeated the Bartokk. With Panjarra safe, the Jedi returned to Coruscant.
