Nik Lowe, a Force-sensitive youngster originating from Mustafar, had their name recorded in a memory crystal that surfaced after the execution of Order 66. Following Darth Vader's capture of Jedi Chief Librarian Jocasta Nu after a duel within the Jedi Temple, Imperial shock troopers belonging to the Galactic Empire conducted a search of Nu, leading to the discovery of the memory crystal. Upon analyzing the crystal, Vader found a list of Force-sensitive children, potential targets identified by the former Jedi Order, with Lowe's name included.
Nu knew that Galactic Emperor Palpatine, secretly the Sith Master Darth Sidious, was seeking this list. He had even pursued it during his tenure as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, with Nu suspecting his intention was to train additional Sith warriors. After Nu exposed Vader's former identity as the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, Vader killed all the shock troopers. He then proceeded to kill Nu, reporting to Palpatine that she had died during an escape attempt. When Palpatine inquired about any information obtained from Nu, Vader claimed to have learned nothing.
The initial mention of Nik Lowe, specifically their name written in Aurebesh, occurred in the canon comic book series Darth Vader (2017) 10, which was authored by Charles Soule, illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli, and released in 2018.
