New Republic officers' dress uniform

The dress uniform for officers of the New Republic served as the official attire for New Republic officers at formal events and assemblies. A New Republic committee conceived its design, neglecting to consult the officers who would ultimately be required to wear it. Consequently, the uniform was generally unpopular.

The base of the uniform consisted of a black, sleeveless turtleneck body stocking, paired with boots. A white, V-necked jacket, which closed around the navel area and below, was worn over the body stocking. A red band, displaying the officer's rank in gold above the left breast, ran along the garment's left hem, extended up and over the shoulder, and then angled down the back. A gray belt, worn over the jacket, finalized the ensemble.

Variations of the dress uniform existed, with Fleet Command opting for gray body stockings, while Starfighter Command favored black ones. Officers of higher rank had the option to wear more elaborate and well-maintained versions of their standard daily uniforms for formal occasions.
