The website called New Jedi Order Encyclopedia, also known as NJOE, and presently named NJOE: Beyond the New Jedi Order, was established by Jeff Driscoll in November of 2000.
Initially, the purpose of the site was to provide information on the New Jedi Order series. After the debut of Dark Nest I: The Joiner King, it broadened its scope to encompass the post-NJO narratives found in the Dark Nest Trilogy, Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, and Star Wars: Legacy. It offers a comprehensive collection of information concerning characters, species, governments, armaments, technology, and conflicts, in addition to interviews with prominent individuals from Lucasfilm, including Abel G. Peña.
To generate buzz for the launch of the book Death Troopers, the website took part in the Death Troopers: Recovered Messages from Purge viral marketing effort. A leaked sales database appeared on the website in the summer of 2010, suggesting that the previously shelved Darth Plagueis novel had been brought back into development. Sue Rostoni, executive editor at Lucas Licensing, later verified this information on her personal blog.
The website had become inactive by the year 2013.
