Nawruun, an aged Wookiee from the Nysshyyyk clan of Kashyyyk, was a male.
The Empire subjected Nawruun to slavery, transporting him to the Maw Installation. There, he and other Wookiees were compelled to labor. The Imperial overseer maintained control through constant beatings. In 11 ABY, when Chewbacca and the New Republic, under the leadership of Wedge Antilles, came to seize the Installation, Nawruun seized the Keeper's force whip and shoved it down the man's throat, immediately killing him.
During the Battle of the Maw Installation, he then functioned as a gunner on one of the Imperial shuttles that the New Republic utilized to fight the Gorgon when it appeared to reclaim the Maw Installation.
