A mother, who identified as female, gave birth to Nan, the Nihil pirate. In Nan's early years, she, along with her mother and father, participated in a shared bonding activity typical of spacefaring families; on one such occasion, Nan's mother was present as she picked up a T-7 anx. The entire family eventually became members of the Nihil. Approximately in 234 BBY, during a raid, Nan's parents met their death, resulting in her being placed under the guardianship of the Zabrak Hague.
