Nagnol, a naturally occurring gas, possessed a toxic nature. Its characteristics enabled it to interfere with starship sensors, and even Hutts were not immune to its fatal effects in high concentrations. Furthermore, nagnol was an unstable explosive substance, prone to detonation even from a simple act like a falling canister. During a Hutt starship assault in the Kazlin system, Nihil pirates employed this gas as a weapon of attack. Subsequently, the Jedi Ceret detected evidence of nagnol toxicity on the remains of a Hutt who perished in the raid, although the Hutt had also suffered from gunshot and stab wounds. The autopsy of the Hutt's body, which took place on the Starlight Beacon, revealed that the cause of death was not nagnol poisoning or the Nihil's violence, but rather an infestation of a Drengir root network. In a later event, during an effort to infiltrate the Nihil, Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis created a diversion by utilizing telekinesis to topple a nagnol barrel, leading to an explosion. She did this after being instructed to eliminate Myarga Anjiliac Atirue, a Hutt who had previously collaborated with the Jedi against the Drengir, as a means of confirming her Nihil allegiance.
