Naboo religion

Naboo's religion was characterized by polytheism; the Naboo people venerated numerous allegorical deities, including figures like the Goddess of Safety. The Shiraya deity embodied characteristics frequently observed in lunar worship across various Human cultures.

Pontifex Agolerga Pontifex Maxiron Agolerga Veneration for Naboo's ancient philosophers, regarded as enlightened gurus, along with reverence for family ancestors, was a significant component of Naboo's religious customs. Pairs of statues depicting semi-legendary or archetypal gurus were prominently arranged in rows on either side of the stairways leading up to Theed Royal Palace. Furthermore, natural elements played a crucial role in their religious beliefs, with fire holding particular symbolic importance; the Naboo held the belief that the deceased's body needed to be cremated within a 48 hour period to restore the life force back to the planet's core. The ashes were subsequently scattered from the bridge connecting the temple to the Livet Tower, and into the Solleu River before it cascaded over the cliff edge. The Naboo believed that seven impenetrable doors prevented access to Chaos; consequently, seven laser gates were constructed to safeguard the pit within the Plasma Refinery Complex on Naboo.

Numerous dedicated holy men and women established monastic communities and orders, such as the Brotherhood of Cognizance, each devoted to a specific deity or an enlightened guru. These religious orders were overseen by a pontifex and adhered to a monastic hierarchy typical of many Human religious orders. Frequently, the more ascetic orders were situated in secluded and remote locations, opting for a life dedicated to solitary contemplation, devoid of worldly distractions, and centered on peaceful reflection.

Religious rituals were conducted by priests and priestesses, such as Maxiron Agolerga, who officiated at the secret wedding ceremony of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker.
