Mors Demanna

Mors Demanna, a male Chagrian, held the position of chief enforcer for the Musori's gang. This gang operated on Telerath, specifically within the settlement of Noua.

Biography

Demanna, known for his exceptional swordsmanship, was participating in a widely attended sword competition when a young boy named Dado voiced his ambition to challenge him. Deeming Dado unworthy, Demanna dismissed him. However, Dado's pride prevented him from backing down, and he unsheathed his sword to confront Demanna. At that precise moment, Dass Jennir, a former Jedi, employed his blaster and the Force to disarm Demanna and the other Chagrian enslavers present. When another Chagrian attempted to shoot Jennir from behind, Demanna intervened, citing a violation of the law. After explaining the "Sword law" of Telerath to the offworlder, Demanna executed the Chagrian who had broken it, and then severed Dado's right hand, declaring it a lesson for the young fisherman to remember his place. Later that same day, Demanna engaged in a discussion with Boss Musori regarding the incident. Musori instructed Demanna to offer Jennir a position within the gang, with the contingency of eliminating him should he refuse.

Demanna then approached Jennir and extended an invitation to Musori's residence, where he engaged the Human in a non-lethal sword fight. Ultimately, Demanna proved superior to Jennir, who conceded defeat. As Musori commended Demanna, Jennir countered that he lacked honor due to his involvement in the enslavement trade. Demanna took offense to this insult and drew his sword, but Jennir believed that he wouldn't strike an unarmed man, considering it dishonorable.

At a later time, the Ken-Kiba spicer gang launched an assault on Musori's house, violating the Sword law by using blasters and grenades. Musori instructed Demanna to lead his men in a counterattack. This troubled Demanna, as he knew he would be sending his men to their deaths, even as Musori attempted to buy their lives with credits. Realizing that Musori only cared about himself, Demanna allowed the spicers to capture him, while he himself fled the mansion.

As the spicers began to seize control of the town, Demanna confronted Jennir as he was in the process of freeing Ember Chankeli, the woman who had originally brought him to Telerath. Demanna accused the Human of undermining his position and honor, vowing revenge. Jennir responded that he was mistaking position for respect and pride for honor, when honor is something intrinsic. This proved to be the final provocation for the Chagrian, who drew his sword, only to have Jennir swiftly sever his right hand, revealing that he had been holding back during their previous duel. Demanna requested that Jennir end their conflict by taking his life. Jennir refused, stating that he was allowing Demanna to leave with his life and an opportunity for redemption. Demanna accepted this mercy and departed.

Personality and traits

Mors Demanna built his life around a personally defined code of honor, although Dass Jennir pointed out that Demanna's code was more focused on pride than true honor. In addition to his pride, Demanna also demonstrated a lack of regard for others, as evidenced by his killing of a fellow enslaver over a violation of Sword Law, and his severing of Dado's arm to "teach a lesson". Despite these actions, he did possess some semblance of genuine honor. When Boss Musori ordered him to lead a futile counterattack, Demanna refused, recognizing that it would only result in more pointless deaths.

Skills and abilities

Demanna was a highly skilled swordsman. Boss Musori stated that he had never been defeated, an impressive accomplishment considering his extensive experience. Due to his physical strength, he often wielded his sword with only one hand, allowing for greater dexterity and reach; this provided him with a distinct advantage in combat. He frequently employed thrusts and jabs rather than slashes and cuts (which many lightsaber users tended to favor). Despite his skill, his reflexes were insufficient to match those of Dass Jennir, who was able to sever his sword hand within the first second of their final encounter.
