Moonberries were a variety of berry suitable for human consumption. Back in 382 BBY, Axel Greylark, a human, commented that a wine he sampled on the planet Dalna possessed a pleasant moonberry flavor, despite his actual opinion being that it was just mediocre. Furthermore, moonberries were used in the creation of a pale pink juice, which the Uzzu club offered for sale on Coruscant. The Jedi Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo ordered some of this juice while visiting the Uzzu in 230 BBY. Two years later, in 228 BBY, Ghirra Starros, the Nihil Minister of Information, enjoyed a glass of moonberry juice aboard her cruiser, the Pearl of Faretta, while it was positioned above Hosnian Prime.
The first reference to Moonberries appeared in Cataclysm. This novel, penned by Lydia Kang, was released in 2023 as part of Phase II of the Star Wars: The High Republic project, which spans multiple media formats.
