Mia Hawkins existed during the Cold War era as a female Human terrorist. Neyla, her sister, oversaw a separate terror cell.
Previously, she participated in Cobalt Flag, a group opposing the occupation of Sullust. This group engaged in bombings and sabotage against the Sith Empire. Subsequently, she became a member of the Ghost cell on Tatooine after being secretly transported to their village. There, she received training from the Old Man. Ultimately, she became disillusioned with their tactics, leading her to desert the group and betray them to Imperial Intelligence.
In 3643 BBY, according to the year system, Mia Hawkins reached out to Agent Cipher Nine via a public holotransmitter. She instructed Nine to collect Imperial security holocams from droids located around Mos Ila and deliver them to Datto Wys, a local droid merchant. She arranged for Datto to exchange a mouse droid for the holocams. Upon acquiring the mouse droid, Nine was led to Mia's hidden location. During their meeting, Mia revealed her training with the cell and her growing revulsion towards their violent methods. In return for safe passage, she offered to assist Imperial Intelligence in dismantling the cell. However, she lacked knowledge of the precise location of the village where she had been trained, as she was always subdued during transportation to and from the village. To locate the village, Mia proposed that she and Nine identify a mysterious smuggler known as "Dragon Eyes," who secretly supplied the village.
Because Nine's presence had been revealed, Mia worried that the Ghost Cell assassin was now tracking them. To eliminate the assassin, they orchestrated an ambush within an abandoned wind farm warehouse. As it turned out, "Dragon Eyes" was identified as Milosh Varta, a member of the local Exchange. After Nine questioned Varta about the location of the Ghost Cell's base and then eliminated him, Mia aided the agent in infiltrating the base through a concealed supply route by concealing herself inside a supply crate. Inside the base, Mia was somehow apprehended while Nine confronted the leader, known only as "the Old Man". After Nine killed the Old Man, Mia was executed by the agent.
After Cipher Nine completes their assignment, Hawkins' fate is determined by the player's choices: she can be killed (dark side) or freed (light side). Additionally, a male Cipher Nine can flirt with her.
If Mia is killed and Ardun Kothe is also eliminated while Cipher Nine is on Quesh retrieving the Shadow Arsenal, Neyla Hawkins will confront the agent on Corellia instead of Kothe. Neyla will mention Mia and imply that killing Cipher is the only way to get revenge.
