Mess Boulanger

A Human male named Mess Boulanger functioned as a quartermaster for the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. He offered logistical support during the Battle of Praesitlyn, which was crucial in liberating the Republic's Intergalactic Communications Center from Separatist forces.

Biography

In 22 BBY, during the Clone Wars, Mess Boulanger, a Human male, was assigned as a quartermaster for a Republic military mission to Praesitlyn. Their objective was to counter an attack by a Separatist taskforce, commanded by Admiral Pors Tonith, on a Republic listening post. Boulanger, accompanying a clone trooper contingent led by Jedi Master and General Nejaa Halcyon, meticulously planned and prepared the needed supplies before the battle. He also thoroughly briefed Commander Anakin Skywalker on the critical role of logistics.

While stationed on Praesitlyn during the Republic's operation, Boulanger crossed paths with Zozridor Slayke, the head of a pro-Republic splinter group actively resisting the Separatist occupation. Slayke mistakenly identified Boulanger as the commanding General of the relief force, prompting Boulanger to direct him to Commander Skywalker instead. As the combat escalated, Boulanger took control of the supply chain, managing the transports delivering provisions to and from Praesitlyn. He even repurposed several troopships into cargo carriers to manage the extensive supply demands, which he and his team had estimated would last for the week needed to dislodge Tonith's control over the communications center. Despite his diligent efforts, constant attacks from Tonith's forces forced Boulanger's shuttles to navigate increasingly dangerous landing conditions on Praesitlyn, resulting in the destruction of numerous vessels.

Personality and traits

Boulanger was, at his core, a logistician. He was completely dedicated to ensuring the Republic's expedition to Praesitlyn had all the supplies it needed, and he eagerly shared this fact with others, promoting the acronym COMETS-Q to emphasize the essential components for a functional military. As a quartermaster focused on supplying organic forces, he held a low opinion of battle droids. However, he acknowledged that managing supplies for droids, such as replacement parts and lubricants, also fell under the umbrella of logistics. Boulanger was an older Human male, characterized by a protruding belly, blue eyes, and a drooping brown mustache.

Behind the scenes

Mess Boulanger's first appearance was in Jedi Trial, a novel co-authored by David Sherman and Dan Cragg, published in 2004 as a component of the Clone Wars multimedia project.
