Megonite moss

Megonite moss was a species of moss. In the Smuggler's Guide book, Maz Kanata, the pirate queen, identified it as one of the most lucrative cargoes per kilogram for smugglers, but cautioned that proper packaging was essential. Platt Okeefe, a smuggler who acquired the book before or during 10 BBY, added a section challenging Kanata's recommendation, noting that while profitable, possessing the moss constituted a class 1 felony. It shared its name with the fuel known as megonite.

Behind the scenes

Within the current Star Wars canon, the reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, penned by Daniel Wallace and published in 2018, marked the initial mention of megonite moss. The moss has its roots in the Star Wars Legends timeline, debuting in the 1979 comic strip titled "Princess Leia, Imperial Servant". This comic, authored by Russ Helm with illustrations by Russ Manning, depicted megonite moss as a significantly explosive material.
