Marn was a female who managed the farm for orphans belonging to Lund Gourley located on Durkteel during the war between the First Order and the Resistance. She looked after her orphans, who, in return, labored in the farm's hemmel fields. As a long-time believer in the Phirmist religion, she frequently dispatched the orphans to the nearby place of worship. Eventually, the Resistance became aware of Mattis Banz, a favored orphan of Marn's, and sought to recruit him into their fight against the First Order.
Based on Mattis Banz's account, Marn was neither overtly cruel nor particularly compassionate. Nevertheless, she was a committed Phirmist, and she had sufficient faith in the Resistance to permit them to recruit Banz. Furthermore, she did not put up with those who made problems; those who caused issues at the farm and were of a certain age faced the threat of being sent to Lund Berlo, a hazardous fate even for the indigenous Saurins of Durkteel. She would rise before the children each day to cook their morning stew.
