On a mission to the volcanic world of Alabash, the Long Shot transported a unit known as Reekeene's Roughnecks. These soldiers were to pose as inspectors from the Imperial Resource Procurement Bureau. The ship received refueling and supplies, and its exterior was altered to align with the squad's false identities.
Subsequently, the Long Shot journeyed to the planet Iyuta at the request of General Reekeene, who desired the placement of a listening device at an Imperial communications hub located there.
During an extended surveillance operation near Iyuta, the crew of the Long Shot learned that the Empire had captured General Reekeene. She had been taken to a garrison on Flankers, a world destined for destruction by a nova within a few days. Ixsthmus then set a course for Flankers. Upon arrival, Imperial forces recognized the Long Shot as a hostile vessel and opened fire, while Symm maneuvered to evade the attacks and kept the crew informed of the remaining time.
At a later time, Reekeene's Roughnecks implemented modifications to the Long Shot, enhancing the ship's sublight speed capabilities.
