Landing Shootout

The Landing Shootout, an annual marksmanship competition, took place in the Galactic Republic's final decades within the Lamaredd town of Bartyn's Landing. Aside from vendors offering refreshments, security personnel, it was a celebrated public holiday.

The Shootout consisted of five rounds, each lasting an hour, with the number of targets diminishing in each round. The initial round featured five targets, while the final round had only a single target. Victory was determined by proximity to the target's center. Participation was open to all, yet advancement beyond the third round was rare.

The Administrator of the mines, who also served as the city's mayor, orchestrated the Shootout. The mayor also granted cash prizes to the top performers, with 1,000 credits awarded to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers, and 300 credits given to anyone who progressed to the 5th round.

Mix Liddell, the Security Chief, secured the top prize for ten consecutive years, spanning from 55 BBY to 44 BBY. Following his undefeated streak, he retired and subsequently presented the first prize himself: a refined, pearl-handled slugthrower, powered and personally crafted.

Despite the rarity of violent incidents, Guther Bartyn, the Administrator, heightened security measures during his tenure.
