L'cayo Llem was a member of the Rebel Alliance's army, fighting as a soldier during the Galactic Civil War against the forces of the Galactic Empire. He was stationed at Echo Base, the rebel's main headquarters on the Outer Rim planet of Hoth. Llem was present when the Empire attacked the base in 3 ABY. During the battle, he guided Corwi Selgrothe, a journalist, to a GR-75 medium transport to facilitate her escape from Echo Base.
During the Galactic Civil War, L'cayo Llem fought as a soldier within the ground forces of the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire. In 3 ABY, he found himself stationed at Echo Base, a clandestine installation that served as the Rebellion's central command on the Outer Rim ice planet of Hoth. In that year, not long time after the base's establishment, the Empire discovered its location and launched an attack.
While the base was being evacuated, Llem bumped into Corwi Selgrothe, a journalist who was trying to get to Commander Luke Skywalker to obtain propaganda footage, inside a hangar. As a result of the collision, he dropped a bag, which irritated Llem. After Selgrothe picked up the bag for him, Llem immediately inquired if she knew where her assigned GR-75 medium transport was, cutting off her attempt to apologize. Upon learning that she was unaware of the personal assignments and the location of the carriers, Llem guided the journalist through the collapsing base to a large transport bay, where Selgrothe held onto his arm to avoid getting lost in the crowd.
Llem left Selgrothe in a transport boarding line, promising her that the crews would take care of her and revealing his name. Selgrothe then showed the soldier her holorecorder and took a picture of him as a sign of gratitude. While aboard the GR-75, she began to view Llem and all other members of the Rebellion as heroes. After Selgrothe's ship successfully escaped Hoth, she decided to focus on their stories to inspire hope, beginning her new endeavor by interviewing a rebel next to her.
Despite his initial annoyance with Corwi Selgrothe, L'cayo Llem made sure to assist the journalist in reaching a GR-75 medium transport, exclaiming that they would determine her assigned ship upon reaching the bay. As she realized when holding onto his arm, he showed no irritation at the unexpected contact. He assured her that the crew would take care of her and nodded in acknowledgement when she showed him her holorecorder.
L'cayo Llem made an appearance in the short story "Heroes of the Rebellion," penned by Amy Ratcliffe as part of the 2020 short story compilation titled From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back.
