The Kwuennox Smugglers were largely destroyed by the forces of the Galactic Empire. Following this event, the remaining members, with Poyiu among them, enlisted in the Rebel Alliance. Subsequently, Poyiu reorganized the Smugglers, renaming them as the Gale Team.
