The Kuna's Eye system, a celestial body located in the Zuma sector of the Outer Rim Territories, was situated within both the Inner Zuma Region and the Moddell subsector. Its position was characterized by being less than 1,000 light-years above the galactic plane, placing it within the thin disk, a region extending 1,000 light-years vertically on either side of the plane. This system featured Kuna's Eye, a young blue giant, and a protoplanetary disk abundant with minerals, metals, and alloys. As of 43 ABY, it was a popular destination for prospectors, supported by the Mote, a makeshift space station and shadowport.
Within the [Outer Rim Territories](/article/outer_rim_territories-legends], to the west of the Western Reaches and southeast of Wild Space, resided the Kuna's Eye system. It could be found in the Inner Zuma Region inside the Zuma sector, and specifically within the Moddell subsector. Its location relative to the horizontal galactic plane was such that it was less than 1,000 light-years away, a characteristic that placed it firmly inside the thin disk, a region of space extending no more than 1,000 light-years vertically from the plane.
The primary star of the system was the blue giant named Kuna's Eye, which, along with other planets, was a part of the Kuna constellation as viewed from Maya Kovel.
Around 130 BBY, members of the Tulgah and Jindas species, both sentient, attempted colonization of the system after departing from the factory world of Eriadu. However, their starship, named the Free Enterprise, ultimately crashed on the forested moon of Endor.
By 43 ABY, the system's sun, Kuna's Eye, was still considered a young star. It was orbited by a protoplanetary disk comprised of dust and rock, which was rich in minerals, metals, and alloys. At the disk's edge was the Mote, a shadowport and space station built to serve the needs of the prospectors drawn to the system. The station was home to 1,000 individuals of various species.
The Kuna's Eye system was initially mentioned in "Endor and the Moddell Sector," an article penned by Craig Robert Carey, Daniel Wallace, and Jason Fry and published in Star Wars Gamer 9 on February 22, 2002. The reference book The Essential Atlas, released in 2009, situated the system in grid square H-16.
