Kob Mondray existed in the closing decades of the Galactic Republic as a male Human hailing from the planet Ochotl. He was a promising shockball athlete, but he gave up his sporting career to enlist with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Separatist Crisis, citing the mistreatment of his home planet as the reason.
Mondray showed a natural aptitude for shockball, and after aiding his homeworld's shockball squad in the Airam Sector Championships in 31 BBY, he garnered interest from shockball talent agents from the world Eriadu. Subsequently, Mondray signed with the Eriadu Patriots shockball team and participated in the prestigious Galactic League shockball tournament. In 27 BBY, Mondray and Gettle Tebron, his friend and competitor from the Shad Furies team, were recruited by the rival Kuat Artisans team. The pair were instrumental in leading the team to the Galactic League finals, but they were defeated in the tournament's final match by the Commenor Diamonds. The following year, the Artisans rebounded from their previous loss, with Mondray and Tebron guiding the team to a Galactic League championship.
Despite the fame and wealth his athletic achievements brought him, Mondray remained connected to his roots and grew concerned about the predicament of his homeworld, Ochotl, which was suffering from a failed chak-root harvest and pirate attacks. The inability of the Republic Outland Regions Security Force, stationed on Eriadu, to respond to these incidents led Ochotl and the rest of the Airam sector to secede from the Galactic Republic. Following his homeworld's lead, Mondray left shockball and his team to join the separatist Confederacy of Independent Systems.
During the Clone Wars, Mondray went on to participate in combat on the planets Hypori and Shumavar. Later, he became a skilled spokesman for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, making appearances at events like the Conclave of Chanosant. As the conflict ended, he spent a brief time incarcerated in prison, until Emperor Palpatine eventually pardoned him and ordered his release as part of the Outer Rim reconciliation efforts.
