Knight Errant: Aflame #3 represents the third installment within the Star Wars: Knight Errant comic book saga, and it also marks the third part of the Aflame story arc, penned by John Jackson Miller. Its release date was December 8, 2010.
Amidst the infighting of Sith against Sith, the solitary Jedi, Kerra Holt, tenaciously pushes forward with her almost-failed mission!
Marooned deep within enemy territory, Kerra remains committed to aiding the oppressed miners of Chelloa. She embarks on a solo endeavor to eliminate at least one Sith Lord from the galaxy. However, her inexperience and emotional nature may hinder her progress, potentially making her objective unattainable for this young Jedi . . .
Kerra Holt, a Jedi Knight, participates in a doomed Jedi mission aimed at disrupting baradium production on Chelloa, a Daimanate world. Following an assault by Odion, a rival Sith Lord, Kerra emerges as the mission's only survivor and aligns herself with the Chelloan resistance. After commandeering a Daimanite starfighter, Kerra appears at The Spike amidst an intense space battle. Daiman had launched a starfighter attack on The Spike; however, Odion's defenses decimated a large portion of the attacking squadron. Odion discusses with Jelcho, his Givin advisor, his confusion about why his younger brother sent such a feeble force to attack him knowing the destructive power of the kinetic corruptors. Concurrently, Kerra infiltrates the mobile station and enters the expansive factory sector where multiple kinetic corruptors are under construction. She also ambushes and reprograms GAD-3, a labor droid. Odion, accompanied by Jelcho, appears on the factory floor and reveals their secret informant on Chelloa who had divulged intelligence regarding the baradium operations.
Furthermore, he is sent another transmission from the same source, stating that all mining operations on Chelloa have ceased, rendering the planet of little significance to Odion. Odion doubts this report and instructs his subordinates to load the kinetic corruptors onto landing craft. Suddenly, Odion senses Kerra's presence and engages her in a lightsabers duel, causing considerable damage to the assembly area. During their confrontation, Kerra reveals that Daiman is relocating his munitions factories to Chelloa. Odion is unwilling to abandon Chelloa due to its abundance of baradium, which disrupts the balance of the Force. Before Odion can eliminate her, Kerra escapes by instructing Gad-Three to disable the containment fields, exposing the interior to the vacuum of space. Amidst the ensuing chaos, Kerra flees aboard a construction shuttle. Odion's gunship attempts to destroy Kerra's shuttle, but she eludes them by executing a single jump into hyperspace towards Chelloa.
In a parallel narrative, Daiman captures and tortures Gorlan, sending a transmission to Odion, his rival, claiming to have captured one of Odion's agents. Daiman also sought to provoke Odion into launching an attack as part of a planned ambush. Kerra intercepts this transmission as well and heads back to Chelloa to rescue her ally. Convinced that Daiman is, in fact, escalating baradium mining activities on Chelloa, Odion abandons his initial strategy of obliterating Chelloa with kinetic corruptors and prepares for a ground invasion of the planet to seize control of the munitions factories and baradium operations for his own benefit.
