Klo Merit, originating from Equanus, was a male Equani. He possessed skills as a physician and, characteristic of all Equani, functioned as a minder due to their empathic abilities. Furthermore, Merit aided Jos Vondar on Drongar while posing as a physician who appeared to be an ally of the Republic.
Six months before the Clone Wars began, a Galactic Republic weapons test resulted in the destruction of Equanus. Although Merit was among the few Equani who were not on Equanus at the time, the event left a profound mark on him.
The exact time when Merit started his work as a double agent for both the Confederacy of Independent Systems and Black Sun remains unknown. However, it likely occurred shortly after the Clone Wars started. The reasons for his collaboration with Black Sun, where he was known as Lens, are unclear. Conversely, his decision to work for the Confederacy, where he was called Column, stemmed from a desire to inflict pain on the Republic, mirroring the pain they inflicted on his people.

Merit, using his skills as a physician and minder, found employment in RMSU-7 located on the isolated world of Drongar. Drongar's value was solely derived from bota, a plant notable for its remarkably useful adaptogenic qualities. It was this plant that attracted the interest of the Republic, the Confederacy, and Black Sun to Drongar.
Under the alias Column, Merit furnished the Confederacy with valuable intelligence, orchestrated the destruction of a bota transport, caused an explosion on the Medstar ship, and presumably committed numerous other reprehensible acts in the name of the Confederacy.
Under the alias Lens, Merit provided Black Sun with surveillance data on the Drongar operation, revealed the locations of all the local bota fields, and carried out the murder of Filba, a corrupt Republic quartermaster who was a Hutt.
Eventually, the bota underwent a mutation, rendering it a useless weed, which led to the Republic's decision to abandon Drongar. During this period, Barriss Offee, a Jedi Padawan, discovered Merit's status as an enemy of the Republic. She informed Chief Surgeon Jos Vondar, who then confronted and killed Merit.
