Kato Zakar, situated to the south of Thyr on the planet of Tython, was a continent.
This landmass, recognized as the Firelands because of significant volcanic activity in its central region, featured a northern coastline bordering the Thyrian Ocean. Extending inland from the coastal areas were the extensive Strafe Plains, a wide expanse of scrubland frequently hit by Force Storms which influenced the landscape. These plains, marked by lava pits and stretching approximately five hundred kilometers, gradually ascended southward toward the Ice Giant Range. On these snow-laden summits, a Tho Yor arrived in 36,453 BBY, leading to the establishment of a pilgrim settlement. Eventually, the Temple of Martial Arts, Stav Kesh, was established on the mountain peak above the Tho Yor, becoming a pilgrimage destination for members of the Je'daii Order.
The core of the continent, roughly thirty-two hundred kilometers from the northern coast, was characterized by intense volcanic activity. This volcanism rendered the center of Kato Zakar unstable and challenging to navigate. The eastern portion of the continent was dominated by thick fungal forests, which transitioned into marshlands before eventually meeting rolling dunes that ended at the eastern shoreline. Beyond the coast existed the Moon Channel and the seven islands that were visible along the horizon for a distance of one hundred kilometers, after which the continent of Talss was located. The harbor city of Ban Landing was situated in this zone along the channel, offering boat transport to Talss.
