Kashyyyk greyclimber

The Kashyyyk greyclimber represented a specific subspecies of the bantha species, uniquely adapted to the environment of Kashyyyk. In comparison to the banthas found on Tatooine, these creatures exhibited a larger size and a tendency towards increased territoriality and predatory behavior. It is hypothesized that the bantha population on Kashyyyk originated from specimens transported to the planet by Wookiee traders, which then adapted to the planet's primarily forested environment. Over time, the greyclimber evolved to inhabit the arboreal cities of Kashyyyk, developing basic climbing skills. Key distinguishing features of the Kashyyyk bantha included the absence of a shaggy coat and the characteristic large horns typically associated with the species. Instead of horns, the Kashyyyk bantha developed a pair of substantial, bony plates, which they employed as battering rams. Furthermore, the greyclimbers' feet featured elongated, more flexible toes, facilitating their ability to navigate the branches of the wroshyr trees. While these creatures presented a challenge for most hunters to locate and subdue, Wookiees could readily overcome them, even domesticating them.

It is important to differentiate the greyclimber from other bantha species present on Kashyyyk, such as the common, shaggy bantha, frequently utilized for taxi services in major Kashyyyk urban centers, and the three-horned bantha, which is also sometimes referred to as simply the "Kashyyyk bantha."
