Kaltor Naklian functioned as a Ka'hren academic, a master swordsman, a scalp hunter, and served as both the founder and priest of the Ni'Shaw-Dak Ministry.
Naklian consistently expressed a deep fascination with celebrated ancient warrior societies originating from his homeland of V'shar, with a particular focus on those located in the southern regions. This intense interest propelled him to become an instructor of Ka'hren ancient history at the University of Timb, where he became deeply immersed in his scholarly pursuits.
Naklian dedicated himself to the study of the largely forgotten Unfyr warriors, despite not being an Unfyr himself, nor a descendant. His research led to the rediscovery of the lost art of crafting the Unfyrs' traditional sword, the rantok, alongside instructional texts detailing its use. Consequently, he achieved the status of a swordmaster.
During an archaeological expedition, Kaltor unearthed a remarkably well-preserved rantok, accompanied by the writings of the initial two prophets of Ni'Shaw, a deity of war and wisdom revered by the Unfyrs. Naklian came to believe that Ni'Shaw's obscurity stemmed from having only two prophets, in contrast to the three advocated by the Jydan religion. Interpreting this as a divine sign, he concluded that Ni'Shaw desired him to assume the role of the Third Prophet.
Naklian initially relinquished his teaching position and embraced the life of a scalp hunter, demonstrating exceptional proficiency with the rantok. Rumored to have never suffered defeat in a duel, he ascended to legendary status among the Ka'hren, widely regarded as the most skilled rantok wielder of all time. Subsequently, he joined the Zulirian Swordmasters as a founding member, developing a close friendship with Ther-das, the leader of the Swordmasters.
Furthermore, he established the Ni'Shaw-Dak Ministry, a derivative of the Jydan religion that incorporated beliefs and practices from ancient Ka'hren tribes. Fueled by Naklian's personal renown as a scalp hunter and Zulirian Swordmaster, the Ni'Shaw-Dak rapidly evolved into the fastest-growing cult in V'shar, securing significant representation within the demo-teocracy. Naklian amassed considerable wealth as the Third Priest, but he dedicated all of these funds to the sect, and donated all of his earnings as a scalp hunter to the Swordmasters.
Naklian maintained a friendly rivalry with Swordmaster Cene Gilvent, stemming from the fact that neither had ever experienced defeat in a duel.
Naklian was among the Zulirian Swordmasters who encountered a Rebel team on Teloc Ol-sen. Upon observing a Rebel's affinity for his vibroblade, Naklian challenged him to a duel. The Rebel declined, prompting Naklian to swiftly dispatch him with his rantok. The remaining Rebels initiated a battle with the Swordmasters, but were decisively defeated and massacred. Since this incident, the Zulirian Swordmasters have been perceived as a threat by the Rebel Alliance.
