K'kur

K'kur, a Twi'lek male, was a Jedi Knight who dedicated himself to the Jedi Order during the twilight years of the Galactic Republic. As the Clone Wars began between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, K'kur chose to stay at the Almas Academy instead of reporting to the Jedi High Council, where he met his end at the hands of raiders led by Phylus Mon.

Biography

Unlike the majority of Jedi during that time, after Jedi Order recruiters from the Acquisition Division discovered his Force-sensitive nature, K'kur received his training at the Almas Academy located in the Cularin system. After successfully completing his Trials of Knighthood, K'kur rose to become a highly respected Jedi Knight, famed both for his skill with a lightsaber and his bravery on the battlefield. Therefore, it came as a surprise when K'kur declined the Jedi High Council's summons to fight when the Clone Wars began. Instead of joining the Grand Army of the Republic by using his Right of Denial, K'kur remained on Almas, only answering to the Academy's Council of Masters.

While Jedi were dying across the galaxy during the first year of the conflict, K'kur was tasked with guarding the ancient fortress that once belonged to the long-deceased Sith Lord Darth Rivan. The Almas Jedi had taken control of the long-abandoned fortress, but it hadn't been fully explored and needed protection from the Believers, a dark-side sect. K'kur, along with five other Knights, was positioned at the fortress's southern entrance, while a team of fourteen Jedi Researchers explored the interior. A sandstorm swept over the area while K'kur was on duty, enveloping the structure. Under the cover of the sandstorm, Phylus Mon, a Dark Side Adept, attacked the fortress with a group of followers and a Force-sensitive wampa. K'kur and the other guards were defeated and killed due to being outnumbered, leaving the fortress vulnerable to the dark siders. The raiders entered the building and performed a Sith ritual that lasted several hours before leaving.

The researchers, unaware of the ritual, informed the Almas Council of the guards' mysterious deaths, which led Master Lanius Qel-Bertuk to organize three search parties to look into the fortress and find those responsible.
