Jovan Vharing held the position of captain aboard the vessel known as the Interrogator.
Vharing, a scion of a distinguished and affluent family, entered the Imperial Naval Academy more as a consequence of family custom than personal desire, a decision he ultimately embraced.
Initially plagued by uncertainty and doubt concerning his capabilities and the authority of his superiors, his initial anxieties of being overwhelmed soon dissipated, replaced by pride and ambition. This transformation culminated in his graduation from the Academy, achieving a position within the top two percent of his graduating class.
Upon receiving his commission as a lieutenant, Vharing was assigned to a Victory-class Star Destroyer operating in the Outer Rim Territories where he served as a senior tracking officer. His aptitude for the role quickly garnered attention, particularly from Captain Nolaan. Nolaan, also a veteran of the Outer Rim, developed an immediate affinity for Vharing, assuming the role of both mentor and confidant, resulting in Vharing's relatively brief tenure in that assignment.
Nolaan, openly favoring Vharing, leveraged his influence, much to the resentment of his other subordinates, to bring Vharing to the Interrogator, where Nolaan served directly under the command of High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne.
Within a year, Nolaan met his end, and Vharing ascended to the rank of captain, becoming one of the youngest individuals to ever hold that position. However, similar to his predecessor, he found himself acting as a shield, protecting the other officers from the Inquisitor's volatile temper.
While Vharing was asleep, one of his ambitious subordinates, Leeds, detected an unusual signal emanating from the planet Qlothos, matching a known Rebel frequency. Leeds, without authorization, ordered an attack, but operational errors led to the deaths of approximately sixty prominent Imperial citizens.
Vharing was summoned to Tremayne's waiting room, where he was kept standing for three hours before the Dark Jedi finally appeared. The captain's throat constricted with fear as Tremayne used a Force choke to crush his neck, causing him to collapse. Two stormtroopers then dragged his lifeless body away.
Thus, Vharing's life came to an end, his promising career cut short due to a mistake for which he bore no responsibility.
