The Jestan system existed within the Corpheli sector of the Expansion Region. Specifically, it was found in both the Outer Expansion Zone sub-region and the Northern Dependencies portion of that larger region. This star system was situated along a hyperlane that provided connections to both the Belukat and Corphelion systems, and it housed the terrestrial planet known as Jestan.
By 2 ABY, Jestan became the site of a major battle during the Galactic Civil War. This conflict involved the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. Between 12 ABY and 13 ABY, the Jestan system fell under the control of the New Republic. In 12 ABY, the New Republic deployed the fleet carrier called the Endurance to take part in a military campaign directed against the forces of the Imperial Remnant. As part of its mission, the Endurance journeyed from the Corphelion system to the Belukat system, navigating through the Jestan system along its route.
The reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry in 2009, provided the first mention of the Jestan system. It was located in grid square M-7 within the book.
