Intruder missile

IntruderMissile1 An Intruder Missile on course to its target During the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Intruder missile served as a unique type of weapon, notable for its potent ionizing capabilities.

Description

Slayn & Korpil, a company renowned for its distinctive vehicular creations, were the original designers of the Intruder missile. The Rebels received the initial design during the Galactic Civil War and incorporated it into their arsenal, deploying it from B-Wing bombers, Z-95 Headhunters, and YT-class freighters.

A Sienar-produced Intruder Missile

This missile was equipped with an ionizing warhead specifically engineered to overwhelm the shield generators of capital ships. The resulting overload would cause the shield generators to explode, leading to the destruction of the entire ship. It was not designed to target smaller vessels. Its effectiveness was greatly enhanced when the target capital ships were simultaneously under attack by other weaponry, potentially weakening their shield generators or breaching the shields, thus allowing the missile to strike the hull.

In a peculiar turn of events, agents of the ISB pilfered the design from Slayn & Korpil, who were known to sympathize with the Rebel cause. These agents then handed the plans over to Sienar for mass production. Possibly as a consequence of this theft, Black Sun managed to acquire the missile for distribution to bounty hunters and mercenaries. The Sienar-manufactured version was more frequently found loaded onto TIE Bombers, TIE Defenders, and freighters, rather than other types of Imperial vessels.
