The vaults, located beneath the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, served as storage facilities for Emperor Palpatine's vast collection of valuables within the Galactic Empire. These vaults were situated deep within a subterranean structure.
The Emperor's vaults, a secret location hidden far beneath the Imperial Palace, housed a variety of confiscated Jedi and Sith artifacts. These artifacts came from the ruins of the Jedi Temple as well as from Palpatine's personal acquisitions.
In 6 ABY, following the New Republic's liberation of Coruscant, the new government expelled the remaining Imperials from the Palace, establishing their headquarters there. During their exploration of the vaults, Republic officials found numerous treasures, including the Sayings of Uueg Tching, multiple Jedi holocrons, relics from the Gree Enclave, Tundan tools, and ancient Sith teachings. After considerable discussion, the Republic's leadership decided to relocate these artifacts off-world. However, during the transfer, a breakdown in command led to the diversion or destruction of most of the shuttles. One shuttle was seized by an Imperial Warlord, while two others disappeared into the Deep Core.
It is possible that these vaults are the same as Palpatine's Museum as seen in Forces of Corruption, although the museum could be a separate location, as it does not appear to be part of the Imperial Palace complex. In the same game, Tyber Zann also mentions Palpatine's hidden vaults at the end, stating that they contained billions of credits, technical data spanning decades, and valuable art. It is not clear if these are the same vaults as those under the Imperial Palace.
