Iktotchian gravelwheat bread slices, dipped in egg, were used to make Iktotch toast, a type of toast that was cooked until golden brown and then dusted with Christophsian sugar. This breakfast item was served warm at Dex's Diner, a restaurant on the planet Coruscant, where a robo-griddle was used in its preparation. The Besalisk chef and owner of the diner, Dexter Jettster, enjoyed and served this dish, which consisted of three toast slices, accompanied by bantha butter and [carbosyrup], for a cost of 4.7 credits. The price included a breakfast side of the customer's choosing, and for an additional 1 credit, customers could have it served with either ettel nuts or zoochberries. Dex's Diner served this toast before its destruction within the first couple of years of the Galactic Empire's reign. Iktotch, the homeland of the Iktotchi species, is a moon located in the Expansion Region and orbits the planet Iktotchon.
The StarWars.com Hyperspace exclusive article "Dining at Dex's," written by Gregory Walker in 2009 as an in-universe menu for Dex's Diner, was the first time Iktotch toast was mentioned. The article never clarified the connection between the toast and the planet sharing its name.
