Hraykken Bender

Hraykken Bender existed as a male Human criminal. During the era of the Galactic Civil War, he made his home on the planet of Corellia. He held a leadership position within the Meatlumps.

Biography

Lucien Bender fathered Hraykken Bender, who was also brother to both Draykken and Louis Bender. Their father, Lucien Bender, was a scientist of unsound mind, known for experimenting on his own offspring. Before the Battle of Yavin, the three young boys managed to flee their abusive father. A mysterious individual, who later became known as the Meatlump King, aided them in their escape. This man took in the three boys and raised them as if they were his own children. After Imperial assassins made attempts on their adopted father's life, the Bender brothers established the Meatlumps. The Meatlumps were a group of fanatical thugs, criminals and terrorists who despised technology. While the Meatlump King served as the public figurehead and ideological leader, the Bender brothers managed the day-to-day operations of the gang. Their base of operations was a secret hideout hidden beneath the city of Coronet. Draykken Bender is credited with naming the Meatlumps, drawing inspiration from their preferred food. As a response, their father Lucien went on to create the Bofa Treat Gang, which also took its name from food.

By the time the Battle of Yavin took place, two Imperial officers, Major Tery and Colonel Frost, had discovered the link between the three Meatlump leaders, realizing they were brothers. Frost and Tery, after studying the Meatlump attacks on Imperial researchers, formed a theory: the brothers' father may have been an Imperial scientist at some point. Later, Vani Korr, a reporter from the Corellia Times, supported their theory and exposed the brothers' parentage in her article titled Who are the Meatlumps?.

In 1 ABY, Hraykken and Draykken made the decision to launch an attack on a droid factory located on Corellia, a factory that produced helper droids. They sent a spacer who was associated with the Meatlumps to carry out the attack on the factory. The spacer succeeded in destroying the majority of the droids, including the "droid queen" known as QU3-3N. Shortly after, the spacer was also responsible for killing Lucien Bender, who had offered a bounty for the capture of his three sons.

Behind the scenes

Hraykken Bender appeared as a non-player character in the video game Star Wars Galaxies from 2003. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011.

The first mention of the three Bender brothers, Hraykken, Draykken, and Louis, was in Vani Korr's article, Who are the Meatlumps?. This article was introduced into the game with "Publish 21," which was released on August 4, 2005. Later, they were mentioned in web articles about the Meatlumps on the Star Wars Galaxies website. These included the "CorSec Database H-Z," published on June 16, 2006, and "Meatlumps!", published on May 30, 2008. They were also mentioned during the events of "Chapter 10: The Search for the Meatlump King," released on June 19, 2008. Finally, the three Bender brothers were added as characters in the game with "Game Update 10," which was released on June 2, 2009.

In the "CorSec Database H-Z", the initial description of the Bender brothers identified them as the sons of the Meatlump King. However, Game Update 10 later revealed that the Meatlump King had adopted them after they had escaped from their biological father, Lucien Bender.

Analysis of unused game files that were added with "Publish 28" suggested that the original names intended for the three Bender brothers were Lempi, Lucien, and Hamm, while their father was to be named Andrade. The game's files also contained unused graphical models for Hamm and other Meatlump brothers. These files show that Lempi was changed to Draykken Bender, Hamm became Hraykken Bender, and Lucien was renamed Louis Bender.
