An Honorary Elder represented a designation that one Ewok received from a different tribe than their own. This title indicated allegiance to the tribe that granted it, marking the recipient as a person of integrity in their eyes.
These titles were not commonly awarded, usually reserved for Ewoks who had been displaced from their original tribes due to events such as natural catastrophes, attacks by predators, or other unfortunate circumstances. Bereft of a tribe, these Ewoks could occasionally establish a new affiliation through this type of recognition.
