A holodisc
A device designed to record both holographic and hologrammic messages was the hologram disc, which was also known as a holodisk, holotape, or simply holodisc. Encryption of a holodisc's contents was a possibility.

During the period of the Clone Wars, Padmé Amidala embarked on a mission to Cato Neimoidia, where she acquired a hologram disc containing information about a new Separatist droid factory being financed by the InterGalactic Banking Clan. This disc served as evidence implicating Senator Rush Clovis of the Banking Clan in a conspiracy with the Separatists.
A message revealing the location of the map to the Valley of the Jedi and the truth of Kyle's Jedi abilities was recorded by Morgan Katarn for his son Kyle, and the contents of the holodisc were encrypted. While only WeeGee was originally capable of decrypting it, Wires, a Rebel computer expert, was able to decrypt it for Jan Ors, allowing the holorecording to be played, albeit at a very low quality.
Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, a copy of the Death Star plans was secured via a prison riot on board the Death Star. Rebel prisoners managed to procure a copy of the Death Star schematics and transmit it to a Rebel cell stationed at a base located on Polis Massa. Subsequently, these plans were transferred onto a holodisc, which then played a crucial role during the ensuing Imperial raid on Polis Massa. During the raid, Imperial forces stormed a command room further inside the base and retrieved the holodisc. After returning it to a captured communications center, they were compelled to fend off Rebel forces for a brief period while the computer completed the data uplink to the Imperial network. However, the Empire discovered that this particular holodisc was merely a diversion, but it did lead Darth Vader to the true location of the plans, which were now stored on a datacard in the possession of Princess Leia Organa aboard the Tantive IV.
