A Holo-tank located on Yavin 4.
Holo-tanks functioned as devices that projected a holographic image, providing viewers with the sensation of immersion within the image itself. These were three-dimensional visual projection areas, designed in the style of a miniature amphitheater. The design of a holo-tank was completely circular, and it was set into the floor. Those observing would stand around the circumference, looking down into the display. Typically, holo-tanks were utilized within military command centers for the purpose of observing tactical maneuvers. Targets were represented as illuminated points, accurately positioned in a scaled-down representation relative to a designated reference point. To facilitate target location, a three-dimensional grid system was overlaid onto the holo-tank's projection area.
