The period of rebuilding on the planet Kesh, known as the Hilts Restoration, occurred directly after the Time of the Rot and the Great Crisis concluded in 3000 BBY. This era on Kesh was named after Varner Hilts, the Sith Caretaker who rose to become Grand Lord of the Lost Tribe of Sith, thereby initiating this new age. One of the initial actions taken by Lord Hilts was to permit Force-sensitive members of the Keshiri species, the purple-skinned natives of Kesh, to become members of the Lost Tribe as Sith Tyros and Sith Sabers. The Tribe, under Hilts' guidance, also reconstructed the cities of Keshtah Minor, which was the Tribe's primary territory.
A crucial aspect of the Hilts Restoration involved attempts to annex Alanciar, a continent separated from Keshtah by a vast ocean. Hilts assigned Edell Vrai, his chief engineer and High Lord, with the responsibility of devising a secure method for the Tribe to reach Alanciar. Vrai, after twenty five years of experimentation utilizing uvaks and various water vessels, successfully created airships. These airships were propelled by helium and methane that was harvested from the volcano known as Sessal Spire. The Tribe then used these airships during their invasion of Alanciar in 2975 BBY. Ultimately, Hilts was able to leverage the Alanciari Keshiri individual Jogan Halder to assure the Alanciari that the Sith were not a threat. Consequently, the Alanciari willingly accepted Sith dominion.
Following the incorporation of Alanciar, the Tribe gained access to its industrial resources and forests. This allowed them to construct a fleet of wooden sailing vessels, facilitating exploration of other regions and oceans on Kesh. By 44 ABY, the Sith had control over the entire planet and had accomplished their objective of reaching the stars. Another lasting outcome of the Hilts Restoration was the Testament of Varner Hilts, replacing the earlier Yaru Korsin. It was read annually on Testament Day, acknowledging the Tribe's Tapani origins and the experiences of their ancestors who were slaves under the Sith Lord Naga Sadow.
