Dangerous arachnoid creatures known as hermit spiders inhabited the planet Naboo and also its moon, Rori.
These large arachnids, known as hermit spiders, were indigenous to the planet Naboo, but they could also be located on its moon, Rori. They were poisonous, aggressive, and predatory spiders. While these spiders lived alone, they possessed a well-defined social structure, including specialized roles such as queens and guards.
It is probable that hermit spiders shared a common ancestry with nightspiders, another arachnid species found on Naboo.

Following the Battle of Yavin, larger mutant variations of hermit spiders were discovered inhabiting Naboo.
In 1 ABY, Zeelius Kraymunder, a con artist, managed to convince Jaleela Bindoo, the organizer of the Narmle Arts Gala held on Rori, that an upcoming gala was threatened by a hermit spider nest. Bindoo, who was terrified of spiders, agreed to provide Kraymunder with funds to eliminate the perceived threat. Subsequently, the crook hired a spacer to slay a hermit spider and retrieve its remains. Zeelius Kraymunder then falsely claimed that the spacer had eliminated at least fifty spiders utilizing a thermal detonator and returned with the deceased queen.

Hermit spiders made an appearance in Star Wars Galaxies, the video game from 2003, which was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, prior to its shutdown on December 15, 2011. Within the game, hermit spiders were virtually indistinguishable from nightspiders, although the specific relationship between these two species was never explicitly defined.
Later, in 2008, the hermit spider received its own entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, a reference book. The illustration utilized in the book to depict the hermit spider was directly sourced from the Wookieepedia article.
