Hazmat suit

A bio-hazard suit, also called a hazmat suit, is a kind of protective garment designed to safeguard the user from diverse biological threats. Padmé Amidala and Jar Jar Binks donned yellow hazmat suits when they were searching for Nuvo Vindi's secret laboratory located on Naboo. Later, Amidala and Binks utilized these suits when some of Vindi's newly created Blue Shadow Virus was released within the lab; however, during their attempts to eliminate the battle droids trying to escape the premises, Amidala became infected after her suit was breached.

During the Imperial Era, disposable orange hazmat suits featuring darkened visors were employed on the planet Cynda, its moon Gorse, and the Imperial space station known as Calcoraan Depot. Starships operated by Moonglow Polychemical, including the company's explosive transport vessels, routinely carried a supply of these suits as standard equipment, a safety measure implemented by company head Lal Grallik. These suits were essential for handling the unstable baradium bisulfate, because the substance, nicknamed "Nasty Baby", was stored in containers filled with a psychoactive coolant that could induce hallucinations upon inhalation. While infiltrating Calcoraan Depot to gather intelligence regarding Count Denetrius Vidian's schemes, Kanan Jarrus, Hera Syndulla, Zaluna Myder, and Skelly exploited the suits' widespread use as a disguise amongst a multitude of identically-dressed workers, since Jarrus and Syndulla had previously encountered Imperial personnel and Skelly was wanted for bombing multiple shuttles.

Behind the scenes

The initial canonical appearance of hazmat suits occurred in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars first season episode entitled "Blue Shadow Virus".
