The Hand artifact represented a relic that utilized the dark side of the Force to amplify the Force abilities of whoever wielded it. The Wyrd unearthed it on the planet Cularin towards the end of the Galactic Republic era.
This Hand artifact was sculpted from the stone of Cloud Mountain and resided within a cavern on its slopes. Its form was that of a colossal hand statue, positioned with its palm directed skyward. Each finger measured approximately three meters in height and one meter in width, while the palm itself spanned five meters in diameter and stood elevated two meters above the earth.
The artifact enabled its user to augment their Force capabilities by siphoning energy from an individual positioned within the hand. Nevertheless, this mechanism posed significant danger to those inside, for if they failed to oppose the draining of their life essence, they risked transformation into Force ghosts. This mortality risk was reduced for force-sensitives compared to individuals lacking Force sensitivity.
During the Clone Wars period, the Tarasin Xinishia, an affiliate of the Wyrd, stumbled upon the artifact. She subjected the Wookiee Chywarra to the hand's power, extracting energy from him, though he managed to endure the process. Subsequently, she placed Chywarra's mother, Risstenni, within the device, but Risstenni met a different fate, becoming a Force ghost. Xinishia intended to harness the artifact to trigger an eruption of Cloud Mountain, a long-dormant volcano, with the aim of obliterating the settlement of Kiirloor.
