The initial mention of Gordarl Weaponsmiths occurred in The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology, a reference book within the Star Wars Legends continuity, authored by W. Haden Blackman and published during 2004. Its status as canon was later established through the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, which saw its release in 2015.
