Episode Synopsis

Too Young to Engage

On the perimeter of Bright Tree Village, two Ewoks are performing their assigned sentry duties when a Hanadak unexpectedly begins a destructive rampage through the nearby woods. This Hanadak hurls the two Ewoks, but they survive and resolve to alert Chief Chirpa.

The following day, Chief Chirpa, responding to the Hanadak menace, assembles all of the village's warriors to confront and battle the creature. When Wicket expresses his desire to join the fight, Chief Chirpa denies his request, deeming him too young for such a perilous undertaking, and instructs him to remain with the other woklings. Kneesaa attempts to reassure Wicket that his time will come. However, Wicket remains adamant that he is ready. Latara mocks him, but Wicket is unswayed, determined to confront the Hanadak and earn more recognition for his Belt of Honor. Despite Kneesaa's efforts to dissuade him, Wicket angrily departs. Kneesaa is annoyed with Latara for exacerbating the situation.

Wicket embarks on his solo mission to vanquish the Hanadak. He eventually discovers the creature asleep by a river, having overindulged in fermented fruit. Wicket binds the Hanadak and attempts to extract one of its fangs as a trophy for his Belt of Honor. The Hanadak awakens and breaks free from its restraints. Wicket tries to muzzle the Hanadak, but the creature throws him into the river. Wicket escapes by going over a waterfall, but strikes his head on a rock and loses consciousness. He is carried downstream and washes ashore on the riverbanks.

Wicket's Disappearance

In the meantime, Kneesaa, Latara, and Teebo initiate a search for Wicket. Latara suggests turning back, but Kneesaa insists that they will not abandon the search until they find Wicket, and she apologizes for teasing him. Teebo carries a container filled with a magical Hanadak repellent, which Latara finds overpowering. Sensing movement in the nearby foliage, the Ewoks are alarmed, but relieved to discover that the other travelers are merely Kagles, who inform them that Wicket encountered trouble with the Hanadak. Though Teebo and Latara fear the worst for Wicket, Kneesaa remains resolute in her determination to continue the search and suggests that they investigate the river.

Later on, Wicket regains consciousness only to find himself captured by tiny Mimph warriors, who declare him their prisoner. Wicket protests, but the Mimphs insist that they are taking him back to the Mimph village. Wicket expresses his frustration and humiliation.

Captive of the Mimphs

Elsewhere, Kneesaa and her companions travel along the river on a makeshift raft. As they approach a waterfall, Kneesaa suggests that they head back home. Teebo notices Hanadak tracks and Wicket's broken slingshot. Kneesaa, Teebo, and Latara fear that Wicket has died. Kneesaa decides to retrieve the slingshot in order to inform his mother, Shodu, that Wicket fought bravely. Teebo and Latara mourn their friend's possible demise.

In another location, Wicket is presented as an attraction at the Mimph village, much to the delight of the villagers. Wicket blows away some Mimphs and damages a tower with his powerful breath. The Mimph leaders want him to perform, but Wicket refuses to participate in his own humiliation. The Mimphs believe he resembles Kvark and begin chanting. Their shouts attract the attention of the Hanadak, who makes its way towards their village, destroying a large portion of the tiny village with a single step. Some Mimph warriors attempt to stop him, but he swats them aside as if they were insects.

Overcoming the Hanadak

Wicket manages to break free from his bonds and rescues several Mimphs. Wicket confronts the Hanadak and leads it on a chase. He climbs a tree and then leaps onto the giant creature's head, blindfolding it and guiding it over the edge of a waterfall. The Hanadak plummets into the river and down the waterfall. The Mimphs celebrate as the Hanadak roars in anger and frustration downstream.

While the Mimphs are overjoyed, Wicket is disappointed that he failed to acquire the Hanadak fang for his belt. As an act of gratitude, the Mimphs present him with a tiny tooth from their youngest warrior, Thrasher, which he had previously lost in a fight. Wicket doubts that anyone will believe his story, but the Mimph leader advises him to keep it a secret.

The Hero's Homecoming

Meanwhile, Kneesaa wonders how they will break the news to Wicket's mother, Shodu. Teebo and Latara grieve, with the latter taking the blame. Latara wishes she could tell Wicket that he is the greatest, most courageous Ewok warrior on Endor. Hearing their words, Wicket swings down on a rope. He informs them that he dealt with the Kanadak. In an effort to make amends with Wicket, Latara praises him for his bravery as a warrior.
