During the Imperial era, the Ripoblus government utilized the Glas, an IPV-1 System Patrol Craft. However, in 3 ABY, a faction of Ripoblus scientists, growing increasingly disillusioned with the ongoing Sepan Civil War, commandeered it. Their aim was to seek asylum with the Galactic Empire. Given the Glas's lack of a hyperdrive, the Victory I-class Star Destroyer named Protector was dispatched to the Sepan system to facilitate a docking procedure. Although Ripoblus deployed their fighters in an attempt to stop the scientists' escape, the Glas successfully docked with the Imperial warship and was subsequently abandoned.
The Glas, a Sienar Fleet Systems IPV-1 System Patrol Craft, measured 150 meters in length. Its maximum speed was eighty megalights per hour. Defensively, it possessed a deflector shield strength of 150 SBDs and a hull integrity of fifty RU. Offensively, the Glas was equipped with three laser cannon turrets and a single, rear-mounted turbolaser. A significant disadvantage for the Ripoblus scientists who hijacked the vessel during the Sepan Civil War was its lack of a hyperdrive.
During the Imperial era, the Ripoblus government possessed and operated the system patrol craft known as the Glas. In 3 ABY, amidst Admiral Harkov's attempts to resolve the Sepan Civil War, a particular group of scientists from Ripoblus became weary of the ongoing conflict and sought to distance themselves from it. Their dissatisfaction stemmed primarily from the way their research was being utilized by their government, and they no longer desired to contribute to the war effort. To this end, the scientists hijacked the Glas along with the shuttles Nazaar 1 and Nazaar 2 and sought sanctuary with the Imperial forces located within the sector. As the Glas lacked a hyperdrive system, Harkov's flagship, the Victory I-class Star Destroyer named Protector, made its way to the patrol craft's location. The scientists made arrangements for the Glas to dock with the Protector, facilitating a transfer of personnel. However, before the stolen patrol craft could reach the Star Destroyer, fighters dispatched by the Ripoblus government entered the system.

As BTL Y-wing starfighters from Able Squadron, representing the Ripoblus, and Lambda-class T-4a shuttles of Lambda Group converged on the Glas, the Protector deployed TIE/IN interceptors to defend it. Subsequently, the Dimoks, adversaries of the Ripoblus, dispatched their own fighters to engage the Glas. Their attack force mirrored that of the Ripoblus, with Y-wings from Baker Squadron and shuttles from Sigma group participating. The Imperial fighters also intercepted the Dimoks, with ace Maarek Stele piloting one of the interceptors. The Glas successfully completed its docking procedure with the Protector, facilitating the transfer of the scientists. Decoys were placed aboard the starship. The patrol craft was then abandoned, set on autopilot, and sent adrift into space, though it remained a potential target for the enemy. Delta-class JV-7 escort shuttles from the Ripoblus arrived, but they were too late to capture the scientists. In the meantime, Nazaar 1 and Nazaar 2 successfully landed in the hangar of the Imperial warship. Stele received a promotion to lieutenant due to his role in safeguarding the Glas.
The video game Star Wars: TIE Fighter, released in 1994 by Totally Games, featured the initial appearance of the Glas. Its sole appearance occurs in "Rescue War Refugees," which is the third mission within the game's second tour of duty. In this mission, the player assumes the role of Maarek Stele and is tasked with protecting the Glas until it successfully docks with the Protector.
