The Ghonoath system represented a star system notable for containing a single deathworld planet exhibiting intense radioactive properties. In 5 ABY, the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing of the Galactic Empire paused at this location to replenish the fuel reserves of a Raider-class corvette. However, the New Republic's refitted Star Destroyer, the Deliverance, accompanied by its own starfighter wing, soon arrived in pursuit. A battle ensued above the deathworld, resulting in losses for both sides, before the 204th successfully fled the area.
Within the Ghonoath star system was a planet classified as a deathworld, characterized by high levels of radiation.
The 204th Imperial Fighter Wing of the Galactic Empire made its way to the Gonoath system in 5 ABY, having endured multiple attacks from the New Republic's refitted Star Destroyer named Deliverance and the starfighter wing that accompanied it. The Deliverance was tracking communication bursts originating from the 204th's bulk freighter, the Yadeez. The Imperial fighter wing landed to refuel one of its two Raider-class corvettes, only to be confronted by the arrival of the Deliverance and its wing. To create a diversion and hinder the New Republic forces, the Yadeez and its escort ships descended into the atmosphere of the radioactive deathworld, providing the corvette with crucial refueling time.
Using proton bombs and exploiting the deathworld's strong winds, the 204th's TIE/sa bombers managed to destroy a pair of X-wing starfighters. One of the 204th's pilots, Garl Lykan, met his death when a malfunction in his port stabilizer left him vulnerable to attack by three X-wings. Soon after, the Yadeez ordered the 204th's TIEs to return, and with its escorts, executed a dangerous atmospheric skip across the deathworld, resulting in severe turbulence. The fighter wing then jumped into hyperspace to escape. The Deliverance then pursued the 204th to both the G'Tep'Noi system and the Chadawa system.
The Ghonoath system first appeared in Victory's Price, a 2021 novel authored by Alexander Freed.
