Narrative Overview

Characters such as Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, and C-3PO are featured throughout the story as they endeavor to thwart Project Starscream. The events depicted in the book seemingly take place before the group's resettlement on Hoth.

The shadow-like entities residing on Kiva were transformed into their current state due to an unforeseen incident triggered by Gog and Hoole. Gog's weapon manifests as an unassuming infant, distinguished by a bruise upon its forehead, and is referred to as "Eppon". Individuals left unattended with the infant vanish under mysterious circumstances. Moreover, the infant undergoes rapid growth, swiftly progressing into adulthood. Upon discovering an Imperial laboratory, the Rebels also encounter Gog. Gog discloses that Hoole's complete designation is Mammon Hoole, the subject of the Shadows' conversations. Subsequently, it is unveiled that Eppon is, in actuality, an Imperial Bio-weapon. It then metamorphoses into a colossal monster and attempts to devour Hoole. Tash persuades Eppon to turn against Gog, who promptly detonates Eppon utilizing a remote control concealed within his coat, much to Tash's disappointment. Abruptly, the Shadows surge in to eliminate Hoole, only to be interrupted by the activation of the laboratory's computer, exposing Gog as the perpetrator who manipulated an experiment, causing the failure of a contained star's power and consequently creating the Shadows. The shadows then murder Gog in retribution for his actions.
