Fulkrehm Protial was a Human male who, at the outset of the Galactic Civil War, began his service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a starfighter pilot. Following an injury that prevented him from continuing to fly, he transitioned to a new role within Alliance Intelligence.
During the Galactic Civil War, Protial showed great promise as a Y-wing pilot within the ranks of the Rebel Alliance. During an Imperial attack on the planet Kostra, he was involved in a crash and subsequently exposed to trosilon, a nerve gas deployed by the Empire. The natives of Kostra rescued Protial and provided treatment for his injuries. However, their limited medical expertise meant he could not fully recover. His motor skills suffered irreversible damage, rendering him unable to fly or even walk without difficulty.
Determined to continue contributing to the Alliance, Protial enlisted with Alliance Intelligence. He was given administrative tasks, but he came to view his office as a kind of confinement, despite the value of his work. One evening, he observed a group of intoxicated pilots returning from a nearby town, and he noticed that their unsteady movements mirrored his own. The following morning, he volunteered for an undercover assignment in Sangorn's Net, a popular haunt for criminals. Initially, Captain Rondell, his superior, showed little interest in sending the former pilot on this mission. However, he eventually recognized Protial's feelings of being trapped in his current role and approved the assignment.
Under the guise of a freighter captain, Protial spent his nights frequenting various bars throughout the Kriz sector, carefully listening to the conversations around him. Most of the bar's clientele simply dismissed him as a drunkard. His identification code was "trosilon."
Protial was a male Human who had experienced significant neurological damage due to exposure to an Imperial nerve agent. This resulted in severely impaired movement and speech, causing him to stagger and weave when walking, and to speak with a pronounced slur. Despite these physical limitations, his mental faculties remained intact, and he was determined to serve the Rebel Alliance actively rather than being restricted to an office job.
Protial carried four fragmentation grenades equipped with smartfuses, an audio recorder disguised as a mini-datapad, a blaster pistol, and a comlink. The comlink was programmed with a prerecorded distress signal and an autolocate function.
Chuck Truett created Fulkrehm Protial for Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a supplement for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game published by West End Games in 1994. Doug Schuler provided the illustrations.
