The Floating Catacombs represented a locale situated within the galaxy. It was at this place, a significant time prior to 4 ABY, that Miril, a Chadra-Fan female commanding the Ascendant, had an encounter with the Darkseekers, a group of Sith devoted to eliminating threats against them. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, following her possession by the Spark Eternal, the archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra found herself ensnared within Miril's past recollections. In one particular memory, Miril saved Aphra, then tried to bring her to a certain place, but they wound up in the Floating Catacombs. It was there that Miril was forced to confront the Darkseekers yet again. Aphra and Miril engaged the Darkseekers in combat, and in an effort to synchronize Miril with the Spark, which would allow them to escape the memory, Aphra feigned a betrayal of Miril to the Darkseekers. This deception proved successful, causing Miril to synchronize with the Spark Eternal. Miril then used the Spark to replicate a thought dowser, manipulating the Darkseekers into infighting and killing one another. With the Darkseekers vanquished, Miril and Aphra departed the Floating Catacombs, heading for the Ascendant's headquarters located on Bar'leth.
