Trihexalon

A vial of trihexalon

Trihexalon, also known as dragon's breath or simply hex, represented a devastating chemical weapon capable of causing mass destruction. The Trade Federation manufactured this dragon's breath from ore that was extracted from Mount Merakan on Maramere. The refinement and weaponization processes were carried out at a factory located on Nod Kartha.

Characteristics

Throughout the Karthakk system, trihexalon held a notorious reputation as an exceptionally lethal and hazardous weapon. Its destructive capabilities were so immense that the Galactic Republic prohibited it due to its potential for widespread devastation. It was known for inducing "complete biomass conversion" in those exposed to it and could be modified to target specific individuals or deployed as a weapon for planetary bombardment. In its refined state, trihexalon took the form of a dust-like substance emitting a poisonous, green luminescence. It achieved stability and inertness at extremely low temperatures, which was a primary factor in the placement of the factory on Nod Kartha.

Limited quantities, such as the sample created for Captain Cavik Toth, could be contained within specialized vials. Upon release, the substance would trigger a reaction, generating an energy surge capable of instantly eliminating Humanoids. A single vial, small enough to fit in a palm, held sufficient dragon's breath to kill three hundred Wookiees. However, merely breaking the vial would only result in an explosion with a radius of a few meters. The aftermath of a hex blast was reportedly gruesome and horrific. After using a sample vial to kill Harro Ruuk and his subordinates, Toth immediately instructed droids to clear away their remains.

History

Captain Cavik Toth of Sabaoth Squadron initiated its testing by launching missiles and deploying bombers to obliterate Point Modie on Maramere. This attack would have resulted in the deaths of approximately one thousand civilians, but Jedi Master Adi Gallia, aided by the Lok Revenants, intervened and destroyed the launched missiles before they reached their target. Recognizing the severity of the threat, she partnered with the space pirate Nym and his crew. Together, they breached the orbital defenses of Nod Kartha, the planet responsible for producing hex weapons. Through precise flying and coordinated teamwork, they successfully halted the further production of these weapons.

During the Battle of Geonosis, Toth deployed a fleet consisting of Hex Deployers and Bombers to assist the Confederacy of Independent Systems in their fight against the Republic. However, Jedi Master Adi Gallia, along with her Padawan, Siri Tachi, Nym, his Revenants, and a squadron of other Jedi, thwarted Toth's plans by destroying his fleet of hex weapons. Toth met his end during the battle.

During the Battle of Skye, the genetics terrorist Zeta Magnus threatened the planet with total destruction by releasing a trihexalon-based rooze. However, his plot was foiled thanks to the efforts of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Halagad Ventor.

At some point during the Clone Wars, a group of Padawans led by Mavra Zane and Chewbacca uncovered a scheme orchestrated by Count Dooku and Shu Mai of the Commerce Guild to disseminate the deadly gas on Coruscant. This was to be accomplished using a Subjugator-class heavy cruiser that had been modified to distribute the trihexalon. Nevertheless, their plan was thwarted when Zane and Chewbacca, piloting the Star Runner, guided the aforementioned group of Padawans into the Subjugator and destroyed its main reactor, leading to the destruction of the battleship.

In 41 ABY, Jaden Korr was guided by a Force vision to a Thrawn-era Imperial research facility. Inside, he discovered records indicating that experiments within the facility were to be terminated using a trihexalon gas protocol. This suggested that knowledge of the gas had either persisted beyond the Clone Wars, or that a comparable poison had been discovered later by Imperial scientists.
